The 41 Back assortment consisted of a bevy of cardback changes. Not only was there an offer, but the back design moved from “squared” photography to group photography. The 41 Backs were also the first to get rid of the metallic border that framed the card back. Both changes would allow for showing more product.

Other than the figure treatment, all the versions of the 41 Back are remarkably similar. Both have an a & b version though technically the group photo backs are 41d & e. Each of the “a” versions have the same toys showcased at the bottom as do each of the “b” versions. The toy photos are slightly different. Cardback 41c introduced an offer for an “Action Figure Survival Kit.”

There are a couple of notable design nuances pertaining to the fronts of the 41 Back cards. The first was that all of the name badge had black text, regardless of the accent color. In lines prior and since, some of the name badges had white text, particularly on “Leia blue” and “Stormtrooper red” both of which are represented in this assortment. Secondly, the Kenner logo on this assortment has a “Kenner blue” registration mark instead of the normal black or white on other assortments.
